What I’m suddenly doing here.

Up until recently I had a nice little blog on my paid domain, elizel.net. But since Dec. 2 my webhost has been down, citing that their servers had been blocked because of the spamming activity from some of their clients. (Translation: I was not getting the service I paid for, for reasons that have nothing to do with me and which they are not competent enough to address.) With their ironically named Live Support feature UNFAILINGLY OFFLINE

I decided to send in a support ticket to complain about my site still being down. The reply:

Uh, [sic].

Since I didn’t want to bother with setting up the whole fucking blog again, when it got to 10 days of downtime I sent in another support ticket, demanding at the very least an update on when I can regain access to my files. Their wonderful reply:

Note that in the previous response, they said they didn’t know when the servers would be released; in the latter one it became a matter of if. Naturally, their terms of service state that they are in no way responsible for backups and will under no circumstance be liable for loss of data. Of course, that didn’t stop them from offering me “account restoration” for Php500.

I appreciated their offer very much.

My position now is basically, screw it. I don’t care enough to really put in more effort into getting my money’s worth from them, because that looks like a hopeless cause. I have, however, sort of made it a personal mission to prevent any poor souls out there from making the same mistake that I did when I gave money to this joke of a company.

To Philhosting: fuck you, up the ass, and so very hard.
